Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs

Eggs are an excellent source of high-quality protein and contain essential vitamins and minerals. They are also low in carbohydrates, making them a great choice for a balanced diet. Enjoy as a snack, in salads, or as a protein-packed breakfast option. Here is a step-by-step guide to making perfect hard-boiled eggs.

Ingredients

  • Eggs
  • Water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggs:
    • Place the eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a saucepan. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about an inch.
  2. Boil the Water:
    • Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.
  3. Cook the Eggs:
    • Once the water reaches a boil, cover the saucepan with a lid, turn off the heat, and let the eggs sit in the hot water. Allow them to cook as follows:
      • For fully hard-boiled eggs: let them sit for 9-12 minutes.
      • For softer yolks: let them sit for 6-8 minutes.
  4. Cool the Eggs:
    • Prepare a bowl of ice water. Once the eggs have reached the desired doneness, transfer them to the ice water bath to cool for at least 5 minutes. This will make them easier to peel.
  5. Peel and Serve:
    • Gently crack the eggshells and peel under a stream of cold water. Serve immediately or store them in the refrigerator for up to one week.
