Cabbage stir-fry is a simple yet flavorful dish that brings together the subtle sweetness of cabbage with a variety of complementary ingredients. It’s not only quick to prepare but also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making it an excellent choice for a healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen peas
  • 2 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Begin by washing and chopping all the vegetables. Make sure the cabbage is thinly sliced for even cooking.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté Garlic and Ginger: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the hot oil. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
  4. Cook the Vegetables: Add the chopped carrots and celery to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  5. Add Cabbage and Peas: Add the sliced cabbage and peas to the skillet. Continue to stir-fry for another 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
  6. Season: Pour the soy sauce over the vegetables and toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish and Serve: If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the stir-fry before serving. Enjoy as a side dish or a light main course.
