Salmon patties are a savory dish that combines the rich, flavorful taste of salmon with a variety of seasonings and ingredients to form a delicious, golden-brown patty. These versatile croquettes can be enjoyed many ways, including on a bun, over a salad, or with grits for a hearty Southern breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of fresh salmon fillets, skinless (or 1 can of salmon)
- 1/4 cup of whole-wheat breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup of onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: If using fresh salmon, cook the fillets in a pan over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked. Allow to cool, then flake with a fork. If using canned salmon, drain and remove any bones.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, parsley, lemon juice, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form Patties: Shape the mixture into 6-8 patties, depending on your desired size.
- Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Serve the salmon patties warm with a side of your choice, such as steamed vegetables, brown rice, or quinoa.
